University Grants Commission (UGC) released a new list of colleges selected for the status of ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ under which each college would be given a grant of Rs 2 crore. Principal of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College (SGTB College), Sri Anandpur Sahib, said that the college has been selected for the status of ‘College with Potential for Excellence’. He informed that the UGC had conducted an interface meeting with a number of colleges from various states of India before finalising the list, but only a few ones could be selected for the status of ‘ College with Potential for excellence.’ He said that the status by UGC is an acknowledgement of achievements of the college in academics, sports as well as extra-curricular activities.
He also stated that earlier SGTB Khalsa was accredited with ‘A’ Grade’ by the Banglore based National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The students and the staff members were jubilant over this achievement and they gave credit to the principal of the college for getting this status.
