College History

Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Anandpur Sahib, is committed to deliver quality education in undergraduate and postgraduate streams of commerce, science, management, computer applications, agriculture and other professional courses by providing ample opportunities for exploring the potential of every student. It is one of the leading educational institutions affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala. It was established in July, 1968 by certain visionaries and benevolent individuals, prominent among them being Sant Mohinder Singh, Harkhowal Wale. Ever since it has been spreading the light of knowledge while being a source of purposeful education for the entire belt covering Punjab and the neighbouring states of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

The college enjoys the patronage of the prestigious Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar. Under its management the college has made tremendous progress in virtually every sphere.

The college has been granted Autonomous status since the session 2019-20. Autonomous status provides us with greater flexibility towards academic development and more opportunities for the upliftment of academic standards and excellence.

This autonomy is actually the result of our consistent past efforts and has come in the wake of an ‘A’ grade in NAAC Reaccreditation, ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ status and ‘Star Colllege Scheme’ of DBT, GOI. The college has another prestigious scheme to its credit: DST-FIST. Recently Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) has initiated a national project for determining seismic activities of the area. For this a solar powered Radon Geo-station has been developed and installed on the college premises.

The college has its own Community Radio Station available at 90.8 MHz. Programmes of educational and religious interests are aired through it.
